Dr. Kafer is a California native who graduated from veterinary school and moved to Arizona to complete an emergency-focused rotating internship. She fell in love with the desert heat and decided to make Arizona her permanent home. Prior to veterinary school, Dr.

Inspired at an early age by watching the Emergency Vets: show on Animal Planet, young Kaleigh told her mother she would be a veterinarian one day when she was only 9 years old. Holding that dream, her first job at 16 was a kennel assistant at a local general practice.

With over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field, Elana brings a wealth of expertise and passion to animal care. Originally from New York, she now calls Arizona home, embracing the best of both worlds as a New Yorker in the Southwest.
